Brooks & Dunn: "We're No Merle"

10/8/2007 Sephen L. Betts Brooks & Dunn's Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn can't quite grasp the fact that they've won more Country Music Association awards than Merle Haggard. Says Kix, “When I think about Merle Haggard, I can't say my name or Brooks & Dunn in the same sentence.” Kix and Ronnie agree that while it’s great to hang out with the singers and songwriters who are their heroes, they'll never be able to accept that they are equals. Kix adds that he finds it a little intimidating that people like Kris Kristofferson even know who he is. Brooks & Dunn have 19 CMA trophies, and are once again among the nominees for Vocal Duo of the Year, at the 41st Annual CMA Awards, which will air on ABC Nov. 7. The duo will also perform on the show.
