Broadcast Music, Inc. has launched a mobile version of its website, allowing users to make better use of the website while on the go. To further accommodate users, a mobile version of the popular Online Services area is set to arrive by the end of June.

The performing rights organization has represented music songwriters, composers and music publishers for 70 years. The company helps to collect license fees and in turn distribute royalties to the creators and copyright owners it represents.

The arrival of the mobile site comes from the understanding that smart phone usage among BMI.com users was becoming increasingly more common. A move to make the site more mobile-friendly was only logical according to the BMI President and CEO Del Bryant.

The Online Services area will allow users easy mobile access to their royalty statements and catalog of musical works. The move to mobile is a progressive step, but would not be the first for BMI.

“BMI was the first in the industry to launch a website in September 1994,” said Bryant. “We understood the power of the Internet then, and we understand how quickly everything is transitioning to a mobile environment today.”
