blake-sheltonTaking to Country radio like wild fire, Blake Shelton’s newest single, “She Wouldn’t Be Gone,” has received a great deal of early enthusiasm. His new hit single, written by Jennifer Adan and Cory Batten about the pain of a love he let slip away, is climbing the Country charts and has prompted Warner Bros. Records to push Shelton’s album, Startin’ Fires, to release earlier than originally planned. Now scheduled for release on Nov. 18, instead of January 2009, Startin’ Fires will be able to heat up the charts much sooner than expected. Shelton’s girlfriend, Miranda Lambert, is featured on a track in Startin’ Fires, which seems appropriate since she enjoys referencing flames and firearms in her own music. Shelton and Lambert join forces in both the writing and vocals of the track “Bare Skin Rug.” Of the tune, Shelton said, “We wanted to write a song that was kind of set back in the old days, and how lucky you were, probably, if you were a hillbilly to even find someone of the opposite sex, much less somebody you weren’t kin to. So we wrote a beautiful love song about that.” Shelton and Lambert are also co-headlining a tour  that began Oct. 3 in Richmond, Va. Shelton has been on the Country Music scene since his debut in 2001.  That same year,Shelton received the honor of Radio and Records magazine’s Breakthrough Country Artist of the Year. He received multiple CMA and ACM nominations in 2001, as well. Since, then he has had multiple No. 1 singles, including “Austin,” “The Baby,” “Ol’ Red” and “Home,” to name a few. In speaking about his new album, Shelton said, “I’d like for this album to start some musical fires in some new fans and maybe fan the flames for the loyal fans who have been with me for a while. So, I named it Startin’ Fires – which comes from one of the songs on the album, ‘Good At Startin’ Fires.’” For more information about Blake Shelton, his new album and tour dates, visit www.blakeshelton.com.
