Blake Shelton is officially the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry. He was inducted by duet partner Trace Adkins last Saturday, Oct. 23.

Shelton said the induction was the pinnacle of his Country Music career to date.

“This is what I wanted from the beginning, to make a mark,” he said. “Tonight is the ultimate one.”

The night was shared with a sold-out crowd at the Opry House in Nashville. Shelton performed his hit, “It’s All About Tonight,” and performed his duet with Adkins, “Hillbilly Bone.”

Adkins said he was proud to present the award to his friend. “It means the world to me,” Adkins commented.

Shelton said he had struggle to put his feelings into words until the night before.

“I get the same feeling when I come to the Opry as when I see one of my heroes, I am in awe,” he said. “To me, the Grand Ole Opry is an artist, and I’m really proud to be one of its songs.”

Shelton’s fist Opry performance was on May 5, 2001. Pete Fisher, Opry vice president and general manager, said Shelton’s relationship with the Opry was strong since it began in 2001.

“We’re very happy to formally welcome Blake into our family and look forward to great performances and a whole lot of fun ahead,” he said.

Shelton brought the show on Saturday to an end with his single, “Home.”

Shelton will next be at the Salem Civic Center in Salem, Va., on Oct. 29.
