1/28/2008 Stephen L. Betts Billy Currington says he's now a better person than he was when he entered a rehab facility nearly a year ago. Billy took a hiatus from his career last year to enter a 30-day recovery period at Arizona's Sierra Tucson for treatment of anger issues stemming from childhood abuse. Following completion of that program, he headed to Hawaii, working with therapists who specialize in childhood trauma. “It was very intensive and I wouldn't trade it for the world,” Billy tells The Tennessean. The singer is already working on a new album, and expects to be back to touring in May. Despite the break in his career – while celebrating a No. 1 hit, “Good Directions,” and a platinum-selling album, Billy says he couldn't have done it any other way.
