11/20/2007 Stephen L. Betts Keith Urban Greatest Hits: 18 Kids Capitol I really can't stand it when a Greatest Hits disc is anything less than what that title is meant to represent. So, imagine my delight at scanning this one: 16 genuine hits (and, yes, great ones at that!), PLUS two outstanding newly-recorded tracks which are by themselves enough to assure those of us who worry about such things that Keith Urban is one happy, healthy guy. After the year he’s had in the public eye, he deserves all the joyous excitement he’s captured in the nearly 80 minutes of music here. Come to think of it, so do we. After all, only one of us is married to Nicole Kidman. Let’s hope he’s got another houseful of Kids like this up his sleeve a few years from now. Need more? The Special Edition is a combo CD/DVD.  ON DVD  Also out today is Grand Ole Opry Video Classics, the spectacular 8-DVD collection from Time Life. Each volume follows a particular theme: Duets, Hall of Fame, Honky-Tonk Heroes, Legends, Love Ballads, Pioneers, Queens of Country, and Songs That Topped the Charts. With a total of 120 performances – all taken from vintage country-music TV programs of the 50s, 60s and 70s – it’s hard to say which volume is the best of the bunch. But even if it weren’t packed to the rafters with country music’s finest, the heavenward hairstyles alone would make this an essential purchase.
