With the showcase, the participating students are allowed to make their own creative decisions as they practice the skills learned in classes.Belmont hosts a Showcase Series throughout each school year, covering several genres of music. In addition to the Country Showcase, Belmont also hosts Christian, Urban/Pop, Rock, Alumni and Best of the Best showcases. Performers for each of the showcases are determined by their vocal capabilities, songwriting abilities, stage presence and business expertise. After the performances on the night of each showcase, the acts are judged by some of the music industry’s most knowledgeable experts like Rivers Rutherford and Steven Curtis Chapman, who have been on the judge's panel in the past.Erik Parker, the 2009 Country Showcase Executive Producer, said that his work with the event has helped him expand his knowledge about the industry and taught him the value of team work. Parker said, "This production has been a dream of mine since I've been at Belmont. After months of planning, I take the most pride in knowing that 75 committed students with the same dream have come together to make this happen. I hope the community will embrace the opportunity to show their support for the exceptional learning opportunities the Mike Curb College provides."Each year, approximately 1,200 students, faculty and members of the Nashville Country Music community attend the Country Showcase. Admission is free and open to the public, and parking is provided in the Curb Parking Garage, which is located off Belmont Boulevard and Bernard Avenue.VIP seating is available for reservation for music industry professionals who RSVP at country@belmontshowcaseseries.com.
