After all her years in the music business, Barbara Mandrell is still making history. This time, it was at the International Steel Guitar Convention in St. Louis last Saturday, Sept. 5, where she became the first woman ever to be inducted into the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame.

Known as the "Sweetheart of the Steel," Mandrell had learned several instruments by the age of 10; at 13 she was on tour with The Johnny Cash Show, and she achieved her first Billboard chart record at the age of 21.

Mandrell was influenced musically while touring with Country Music legends such as Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, George Jones and June Carter.

Earlier this year, Mandrell was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Previous honors include the Country Gospel Music Hall of Fame and receiving the The Pioneer Award from the Academy of Country Music.
