10/24/2007 Stephen L. Betts Tanya Tucker was not at home when fire threatened her Malibu, Calif., home, but those who’ve seen her neighborhood describe it as “a war zone.” “Everything around my house was burned,” Tanya told The Tennessean from Las Vegas yesterday (10/23). “It looks like Armageddon,” Tanya continues. “It concerns me about what it says in the Bible about earthquakes and fires in the last days. If you believe the Bible, those things are starting to happen, and more frequently. Maybe we should just get ready to go.” Tanya, who was working in Las Vegas when fire threatened her home Sunday, credits firefighters with saving it after wildfires erupted there. She offers special thanks for family friend Justin Bell, a volunteer firefighter who was able to go into her home and remove some of her prized possessions. “He's a singer and songwriter and a volunteer fireman, and he had the right credentials to get up there,” says Tanya. “And he managed to pull a lot of things out of the house that were important to me, like my stage clothes, my jewelry and a painting.” Tanya moved from outside Nashville to California in August to help her two daughters (Presley, 18, and Layla, 8) as they pursue acting careers. Tanya also has a son, Grayson, who is 16. Presley was home at the time the fire threatened, and managed to escape with the family's pets, while bouncing around between hotels and friends' homes over the past few days. Tanya says she hopes the family can return home today. Among other country artists with homes is Malibu is Dolly Parton, although according to Dolly’s spokesperson, her home is not in danger.
