Another Willie Nelson Classic Makes Grammy Hall of Fame

Willie Nelson has been making news headlines for years, several of those for the prestigious Grammy Awards he has won – seven, to be exact. Now, Nelson is adding another notch to that belt, with one of his songs landing a spot in the Grammy Hall of Fame.

 

Nelson’s hit, “On the Road Again,” will be one of the 30 classics to be forever remembered in the Hall of Fame early next year. Other songs to be honored are “Lovesick Blues” by Hank Williams With His Drifting Cowboys, “Cats in the Cradle” by Charry Chapin, “Purple Rain” by Prince, “I’ll Be There” by the Jackson 5 and many more.

 

"These musical treasures have brought us timeless recordings, and each of them deserves to be memorialized," Neil Portnow, President/CEO of the Recording Academy, said. "These recordings are living evidence that music remains an indelible part of our culture."

 

Almost 900 songs have been inducted in the Grammy Hall of Fame since 1973, when it first began. For Nelson, however, this will be his fourth. His other recordings that have previously been honored include “Aways On My Mind" and “Red-Headed Stranger,” as well as “Wanted! The Outlaw’s,” which was recorded with Tompall Glaser, Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter.

 

However, Nelson hasn’t been having all the luck lately. The 77-year-old rocker was arrested in November and charged with a misdemeanor for marijuana possession. Nelson is still busy touring, however, with shows in Mississippi in Oklahoma over the next few days.
