7/27/2007 Stephen L. Betts Did you catch Porter Wagoner on David Letterman earlier this week, backed by Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives? Terrific performance from the Opry legend, and there aren't enough fabulous superlatives to lavish upon Marty and his band! Dave even offered a nice lesson in the definition of true country music before giving Porter and the band the opportunity to prove that lesson to be wholly accurate! If you don't have Porter's Wagonmaster CD yet, you're really missing out! Hey, early-bird registration rates for the Americana Music Association conference are about to run out! The early rates ($300 for AMA members, $400 for non-members) are in effect until July 31. Registration includes access to all sanctioned panels, showcases, and parties, and also includes a ticket to the 7th Annual Americana Honors & Awards Show set for the historic Ryman Auditorium on Thursday, Nov. 1! This week's Americana airplay chart looks similar to last week's, when it comes to the top five spots anyway! Ryan Adam's Easy Tiger remains at No. 1, followed by Kelly Willis' Translated from Love, Compadres: An Anthology of Duets by Marty Stuart, Cimarron Manifesto by Jimmy LaFave and Room to Grow by Adrienne Young. New to the chart this week: Jason Ibell, Sirens of the Ditch; Terri Hendrix, The Spiritual Kind; and Walt Wilkins and the Mystiqueros, Diamonds in the Sun. For the entire chart, click here
