Americana Music Fest Is Coming to PBS

Beginning Nov. 19, PBS will air "ACL Presents: Americana Music Festival." The hour-long special will showcase several stars, including The Avett Brother, Gregg Allman, Robert Plant, Alison Krauss, Emmylou Harris and The Civil Wars. The show, described by Emmylou Harris as "the shining star of Nashville and music everywhere," was filmed during the Americana Music Association's Honors and Awards on Oct. 13, in the Ryman Auditorium. 
 
In honor of the 10th anniversary of the soundtrack from "O' Brother, Where Art Thou?," the show opens with a performance by Emmylou Harris and Alison Kraus of "I'll Fly Away." The show, hosted by Jim Lauderdale, ends with a performance by Gregg Allman. Several other big names perform throughout, including Lucinda Williams, Justin Townes Earle, Amos Lee, plus several more. 
 
"It was time to bring the Americana Honors to another level," says Jed Hilly, the executive director of the Americana Music Association. "We could not have better partners than Nashville Public Television president and CEO Beth Curley for our Middle Tennessee premiere, and Austin City Limits executive producer Terry Lickona to take this to a national audience."
