Americana Conference Goes Green

The 9th Annual Americana Conference and Festival plans to take green initiatives to encourage green living, touring and promoting. The legendary Sam Bush will be speaking on the greening of the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in one of the workshops and panels. Also, Kathy Mattea will share highlights from the critically acclaimed documentary, An Inconvenient Truth. And The Duhks will share their experiences with green touring.  Presented daily, the panels are coordinated by the Atlanta based Change of Atmosphere. Recycling will be offered this year for all festival attendees. Nashville environmentalist Paula Larson, in conjunction with the support of Metro Nashville Public Works, are providing recycling trailers and bins for many venues, including the Ryman Auditorium, Mercy Lounge, Cannery Ballroom and the Nashville Convention Center.  The Americana Conference and Festival will include workshops, panels, seminars and networking opportunities during the day at the Nashville Convention Center and Americana showcases at night. Levon Helm will open the festivities with his Ramble at the Ryman on Wednesday, Sept. 17. On Sept. 18, the Americana Music Association Honors and Awards will take place in the Ryman Auditorium.
