American Idol's Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina Make Opry Debut

Scotty and Lauren received show prints commemorating their Opry debuts.

American Idol winner Scotty McCreery and runner-up Lauren Alaina performed for the first time at the Grand Ole Opry Friday. Alaina sang LeAnn Rimes' "Blue" first to a sold-out crowd.

"I could cry right now. I cannot believe I am here in front of all of you," Alaina said.  "I've dreamed of this day since I was about this tall…as tall as my heels! I never get nervous singing, and my knees are shaking!"

Alaina closed with her first single, "Like My Mother Does," after dedicating it to her mother who was watching from backstage.

North Carolina native, McCreery, started with his first single, "I Love You This Big," and ended with George Strait's "Check Yes Or No."

"Wow! This is such an honor to be here tonight," said McCreery. "I was bagging groceries just a couple of months ago. I owe all my success to you. Thank you. It's a day I'll never forget."

Following their performances, Alaina and McCreery were awarded show prints commemorating their debuts at the Grand Ole Opry. They also received the jerseys they wore in Saturday's City of Hope Celebrity Softball Game.
