5/21/2008 Cliff Chartrand Country Music newcomer Amanda Henkel Former international model Amanda Henkel released her self-titled debut Country Music album last week, featuring the new artist’s first single “Climbing Up Mt. Everest.” Henkel had always dreamed of Country Music stardom when she signed with Desire Street Records after spending time as a model and as the company spokesperson for Hawaiian Tropic. “I’m so excited about my first project for Desire Street Records,” Henkel said. “It’s taken a long time to get here but I never gave up on my dream of a music career. I can’t wait for the Country Music fans to get the chance to hear the music.” In addition to “Climbing Up Mt. Everest,” which was first recorded by Country Music group South Sixty-Five, the Louisiana native’s first album also features a cover of 80’s pop hit, “Break My Stride,” by Matthew Wilder and Greg Prestopino.
