According to Alan Jackson, it's about that time of year to begin working on his next album. But with his latest album, Good Time, still releasing singles, Jackson told Billboard.com he's in no rush to start the process again. "I usually record in the winter time, but this winter might be a little early to start putting stuff down," Jackson said. "I don't like to (work ahead) because things change and sometimes your whole perspective changes before you get to the finish line. So I like to wait."When the time does come to record a new album, Jackson said he has plenty of material left over from Good Time. "I had so much material; I cut 25 things for this album that I'd written, and we only used 17, so I've got eight things in the can that I thought I'd save for the next album," he explained. Currently on radio from Jackson is "Country Boy," the third single from Good Time that is in the Top 20. Jackson said that the label will try to "squeeze out five singles" before moving onto the next project.Jackson is scheduled to perform at the CMA Awards in Nashville on Wednesday, Nov. 12, where he's also nominted in four categories. But, the singer, who already holds 16 CMA Awards, isn't holding his breath."I told 'em two years ago when they were still giving me awards that, 'Man, y'all need to start voting for some of these younger guys. We gotta keep the industry going,'" he said.To read the full story, click here.
