6/10/2008 Sandy Paul County Music star Trace Adkins is working to promote legislation to assist schools in protecting children nationwide who suffer from life-threatening food allergies. Adkins is currently working with two U.S. senators from Tennessee and has raised public awareness and money for the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network by appearing on The Celebrity Apprentice, according to CMT.com. Adkins, whose 6-year-old daughter Brianna suffers from severe food allergies and the two senators will co-sponsor the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Management Act. The bill will develop specific guidelines that prevent schools from exposing children from food allergens and ensure proper responses to potentially fatal reactions. The singer and his wife have been promoting the legislation for more that three years. "There have been no consistent standardized guidelines to help schools safely manage students with their food allergies. This bill will help keep kids safe while at school and parents will be more at ease knowing an action plan is in place."
