5/21/2008 Mac McKinnon For a Country Music artist, winning an ACM Award signifies a high level of success in a career where success is far from guaranteed. So it comes as no surprise that this year’s Academy of Country Music Award winners were in high spirits at the post-show press conference. Country Music starlet Taylor Swift took home the ACM's Top New Female Vocalist honors, and pointed to support from her family as a major factor in her success. “My family has been just so amazing,” Swift said. “When I begged them to move to Nashville and they saw that it wasn't just a phase—that I really was completely in love with country music and wanted to make it happen—they just jumped. They just moved across the country.” Lady Antebellum wins ACM Top New Duo or Group Award Top New Group honors went to Lady Antebellum, who burst onto the scene with the release of their single, “Love Don’t Live Here” last October. The single is now spending its fourth week on Billboard’s Country singles chart. “Everything that's happened over the past year has just been unbelievable,” said group member Charles Kelley.  “To be here now is just the icing on the cake. It feels incredible.”   Jack Ingram was named ACM’s Top New Male Artist, despite being part of the Country Music scene since 1997.  For Ingram it took the willingness to adapt to elevate his career to its present level. “I think I just opened myself to some opportunities I might have scoffed at before,” he said. “And now I say, ‘Yes. Let's give it a shot and see what happens.’” The Academy of Country Music Awards show will re-air June 4 on GAC at 9 pm/ET.
