ACM Awards Family Affair For Jake Owen

5/13/2008 Cliff Chartrand Country Music star Jake Owen will be accompanied by some very special guests at this weekend’s Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas. The Top New Male Vocalist nominee is bringing along his mother, Mitzi; father, Steve; and twin brother, Jarrod. "We're going to make an event out of it," Jake told The Tennessean. "I really want to win, but if I don't, we can say we were out in Las Vegas, and I was nominated for an award and we got to spend this awesome time together. These days, I don't get to do that enough." Mitzi was supposed to join her son at the CMA Awards six months ago after Jake asked his mother to be his date. However, Owen's mom had a heart attack the night before the ceremony and spent five days in the hospital. Mitzi is now fully recovered and will get the chance to join the Country Music star on the red carpet, albeit a little later than expected.
