Platinum-selling country music artist Aaron Tippin, and wife, independent recording artist and harmony vocalist, Thea Tippin, are nominees for the 2009 Just Plain Folks Music Awards (JPF.)

Aaron’s nominations include Best Country Album for NOW & THEN featuring “He Believed,” which is nominated as Best Country Song. Thea’s independent CD, MIGHTY GOOD GOD, has been recognized in the Best Contemporary Christian Album category and “Mighty Good God,” the title track, has been named as a contender for Best Gospel Song. The Tippins jointly appear in four different categories, as co-writers with a shared credit for the two nominated singles.

Founded in 1998, JPF is an organization established to support independent songwriters and musicians through networking, education and promotional initiatives.

The Just Plain Folks Music Awards, created in 1999, was designed by the organization to give its more than 50,000 members a fair opportunity to win awards voted on by their fans, peers and music industry professionals.

After receiving a record-setting 42,000 albums and more than a half million songs from 163 countries around the world for this year’s awards show, the JPF staff and a team of volunteers spent the last 14 months filtering through the music to narrow down nominees in 95 genres.

The 2009 Just Plain Folks Music Awards show will take place in Nashville on Aug. 29 at the Wildhorse Saloon. Winners will be announced live at the show and posted on the Web site the following day.
