The singer has been an advocate of the organization for years and competed on the reality show, designed to raise money for various celeb-chosen charities, to shed light on the topic of children and food allergies.Adkins has said of the FAAN, "Millions of school-age children are afflicted with food allergies in this country, and the numbers are increasing each year. Much more research funds are needed to find out what is causing this problem and how we can fix it."Adkins and his wife, Rhonda, became involved in the charity six years ago when they discovered their daughter, Brianna, suffered from severe food allergies. The couple has supported legislation to educate parents and schools about food allergies and how to prevent them.“Education is key in saving lives and this bill will help keep kids safe while they’re at school and give parents more peace of mind,” Adkins said in support of recent June 2008 legislation. The Country star has headed up the annual Moving Toward A Cure walk for FAAN two years in a row, and since his Apprentice appearance, has raised more than $300,000 for the charity.FAAN is a nonprofit organization that provides education and information about food allergies to patients, families, schools, the food industry and more.
