2/28/2008 Stephen L. Betts   Toby Keith teams with CMT Films again for the upcoming feature, Beer for My Horses. He’ll take breaks between tour dates this month to fulfill his role in the movie, his follow-up to the 2006 CMT film, Broken Bridges. In addition to Willie Nelson, who recorded the No. 1 song with Toby on which the movie is based, Beer for My Horses also stars comedian Rodney Carrington, Claire Forlani (CSI: NY), rocker Ted Nugent, Barry Corbin, (No Country For Old Men), and Tom Skerritt (Brothers and Sisters).  The film, written by Toby and Rodney, follows the exploits of small-town deputies and best friends who defy the local sheriff to embark on an outrageous road trip to save one of their girlfriends from drug-lord kidnappers. Filming began early this month and runs through mid-March in locations in and around New Mexico. Toby says he’s been deeply involved in the creative process for the new movie. “I'm a writer. That's a huge part of what I do. And while most of the time it's songs [I write], I've had a lot of fun with Rodney putting together a screenplay that borrows a title from one of those songs.” Music-video director Michael Salomon is directing the movie, which is set for a theatrical debut this summer.
