Swift is up for the Best New Artist Award from MTV's Video Music Awards along with Miley Cyrus, Jordan Sparks, Katy Perry and Tokio Hotel, Tennessean.com reported. When Swift found out about her nomination she was a little excited, “I was on a tiny little airplane and I started screaming bloody murder,” she said. “Everyone on the plane thought someone was knifing me. I didn’t really care though; it’s a VMA nomination, I was so excited.” Swift says that she appreciates being able to be herself on MTV. This year, she's hosted a week of MTV's TRL and appeared on the Once Upon a Prom special, all while staying close to her country roots. “I am so appreciative of that because I’ve always been very true to the fact that I’m a country artist. No one has ever skirted around that. I wear cowboy boots when I visit the MTV studios. The fact that they embrace me for who I am and the kind of music I sing means the world to me,” said Taylor. In addition to her MTV nomination, Swift's song, “Change,” has been played during the highlights for the 2008 Olympic Games on NBC. The song is about victory and overcoming struggles in life. You can purchase the song on iTunes, with all proceeds going to benefit Team USA. “It is one of the songs I am so proud of on the second record. It just happened to really fit with the Olympics and everything we stand for.” Swifts second album, Fearless, will be released Nov.11 with a new single debuting this month. “I am so excited about the new record, oh my gosh! I put everything into this album. I have devoted all of my time, all of my energy into making it; I am so excited for people to hear it.” To read more about Swift's accomplishments, visit Tennessean.com.
