9/13/2007 Stephen L. Betts   In an interview for CMT Insider, Kenny Chesney opens up to the show’s host, Katie Cook, on subjects ranging from songwriting, dropping his guard with songs he writes and records, and how some fans might react to a couple of the racier songs on his new album, Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates. Highlights from the interview are currently available at CMT.com. In this excerpt, Kenny talks about how working with Willie Nelson inspired him as an artist, songwriter and person: “Willie lives his life a different way than a lot of us do. And to be able to be in the studio with him and look through the window and be responsible for that man's music was really an honor. And talk about being scared! God, I was a little scared when I got in the studio for the first day. But to know all the roads that he's been down ... and all the ups and the downs he's been through and all the songs that he sang and all the people that he's met and how they all kind of changed and molded him to be the person he is ... and here I am responsible for the music that we're making. I was pretty inspired by it, and I hope I do it again.” Look for Katie’s interview with Kenny on this week’s CMT Insider, premiering Saturday (9/15) at 2 p.m. (ET) on CMT. Kenny has already been all over TV screens this week. On Thursday alone (9/13), he performed on ABC's Good Morning America and The View, and finished up the day as a guest on NBC's Late Night with Conan O'Brien.
