Kenny Chesney Wraps Up Poets and Pirates

All tours come to an end, but as Kenny Chesney’s Poets and Pirates tour wraps up, there is a lot more at stake for small town artists across the country. Throughout his tour, Kenny has been hosting battle of the bands in every city to see which band was ready to be his next opening act. After this weekend’s stops in Florida, a panel will review the performances to decide the winner, who will perform at the final three stops. “It’s crazy, I guess,” Kenny said. “I think it’s about trying to do the things I would’ve dug when I was a fan.  To put that in play, it makes what we do much cooler.” Besides the performances, the winning band will also receive $25,000 and an opportunity to audition for Sony BMG. This is what Kenny hopes will be the ultimate reward. “No doubt having help is key,” he said. "Those breaks mean everything.”
