Jessica Simpson Nearly Called It Quits On Singing

Jessica Simpson recently revealed that she almost gave up singing after she flubbed the lyrics to "9 to 5" at the 2006 Kennedy Center Honors tribute to Dolly Parton. Simpson said afterward that she had lost a lot of confidence and felt that she was done with music. However, it was Parton who encouraged Simpson to get back into the music industry and even appears on Simpson’s upcoming album, Do You Know. “She told me she’s never been more proud of anything in her whole life,” Simpson said in an interview with E! “And I have it written down in her handwriting! I do owe a lot of my confidence to her.” Do You Know is Simpson's first Country Music album and will be released Sept. 9.
