Show Dog Nashville’s Carter’s Chord was a huge hit Monday night at an event for the Republican National Convention. RIGHTNOW! and Lifetime Networks sponsored an event called "Political Chick a Go-Go" to honor women in leadership positions. John Rich also made an appearance at the event. Carter’s Chord was included in the event because they wrote the theme to Lifetime’s Every Woman Counts campaign. The occasion was meant to help women become aware of the political process and become more involved. It is a non-partisan campaign partnered with Rock the Vote, a program aimed at getting more youth voters to the polls. The arrival of Hurricane Gustav prompted the organizers to turn the event into a fundraiser for the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund. Becky Robertson, a member of Carter’s Chord, commented to People Magazine on the importance of women’s involvement in the presidential election process. “It’s a great time for women in this country,” said Robertson to People. “It’s very important for young women to get involved.”
