Dolly Parton Takes Europe by StormBack To Country Music News Archive

Nashville’s "Backwoods Barbie" isn’t so backwoods. Dolly Parton just wrapped up her most successful European tour of her more than 40-year career.

The 62-year-old Country Music icon graced Europe with 17 performances, singing for more than 170,000 fans. She has won critical acclaim throughout the United States for her Backwoods Barbie tour and won just as much overseas.

"Dolly Parton sang beautifully and accompanied herself with an able touch on guitar, piano, violin, banjo, harmonica, dulcimer, tin whistle and tambourine,” said the London Times.

Her two shows in London sold out, as did her show in Glasgow. The Tennessee-native had no opening acts.

And she isn't slowing down, either. She's busy in the studio with Jessica Simpson, recording vocals for the song she wrote for the Country newcomer, “Do You Know," and Parton will also announce more U.S tour dates Aug. 1.

“Shinola,” the third single of her latest mainstream Country Music CD Backwoods Barbie is set to release this week.
