Country Music artist Kenny Chesney began his first stadium show of the Pirates & Poets tour on Friday night in Columbia, S.C., even though the singer sustained a foot injury before he got on stage.

Chesney was to enter a stage set in the center of the crowd via an elevator lift.  While his band played the opening of "Live Those Songs," Chesney’s foot became lodged between the stage floor and the lift.  While the band continued to play, Chesney pried himself free, stood up and began to sing.

"I took one look at those fans, and there was no way I wasn't going on," Chesney said. Although he did not acknowledge there was anything wrong during the performance, it is reported he was limping on stage, but continued to perform for the crowd of almost 45,000 fans. Chesney credited the fans of Columbia and adrenaline for getting him through the show.

The injury was treated by a physician after the show. Details on the injury have not been released.
