The record was released on Matchless Records. “That song is actually a true story,” says Abbondanza. “But no names or places were changed to protect anybody!” Abbondanzna, nicknamed “Abby,” joined the PovertyNeck Hillbilles in 2002. The band sold over 50,000 copies of its two independently released albums and singles such as “Mr. Right Now” and “Hillbilly State of Mind” helped gain the Hillbillies a nationwide fan base. The group broke up earlier this year.
