Billy Ray Cyrus' "achy breaky heart" is starting to heal a little bit.

The country singer turned Hollywood actor sat down with the ladies of "The View" Friday, March 18, to clear the air on recent rumors about his family and his fame.

The rumors began when Cyrus gave an interview to GQ magazine last December, an "out of control" time in his life, he said.

"Going into Christmas, I'm alone in Tennessee, looking at lawyers and divorce papers and my family falling apart," said Cyrus. "...[T]he first mistake I made was doing the interview. I did learn this: doing an interview when you're mad and scared is almost like going to the grocery store when you're hungry. It's not a good idea."

Cyrus recanted his statements that "Hannah Montana," the Disney series in which he co-starred with daughter Miley Cyrus, ripped his family apart and instead blamed fame for his recent family troubles.

"When your life becomes more of an interview or something out of a page than what you're really living, those lines can get blurred," he continued. "['Hannah Montana'] didn't tear my family apart....Fame is a different animal. You've got to be careful with that thing," he said.

But healthy communication has started to bring his family back together, he said, revealing he has recently dropped his divorce from wife Tish Cyrus.

New music was also a topic of conversation on the talk show.

"The album is called 'I'm American,' and the whole album is a tribute to our men and women in uniform," said Cyrus.

The album will hit shelves this summer, and its first single is "Runway Lights."
