A recently released recording of Billy Joel’s concert that ended the era of rock at Shea Stadium features one of country music’s most legendary performers.
Garth Brooks joins Joel on the album for the country singer’s former No. 1 hit, “Shameless."
Brooks said he first heard the song on Joel’s 1989, “Storm Front,” album, according to TheBoot.com.
Eleven years later, Brooks said he had no idea he would be performing onstage with Joel. The two legends also gave a New York City performance during Brooks’ 1997 concert in Central Park, which drew more than 300,000 fans.
“Live at Shea Stadium” was recorded at Joel’s two-day performance at the venue that first hosted the Beatles in 1965.
Joel’s concert in July 2008 was the last at Shea Stadium, prompting the singer to coin the series the ‘last play at Shea.”
The two dics and DVD collection, “Billy Joel--Live at Shea Stadium,” have been available since March 8.
