Martina McBride is busy recording her next album, and this time around she's looking for a different sound.

The Kansas native's vision for her music changed when she departed from RCA in December to join the Big Machine Label Group's Republic Nashville.

"This was an incredible opportunity for me, working with Scott Borchetta and Jim Harnen at Repbulic Nashville," said McBride. "Their excitement and passion for my career and my music is contagious. I can see a very bright future. It feels like I'm starting over in a lot of ways, and that's exciting."

This new album will mark her first since 2009's chart-topper "Shine." But not since her Greatest Hits release in 2001 has McBride felt so inspired to make an album.

"For the first time in awhile, I have a really strong sense with what I want to do with this record," she reveals. "A real vision for it, a real creative -- I just feel like I'm in a really good place to make a record. I'm so excited. I've found some really great songs. I want the record to be a little more organic, a little more stripped down."

McBride will be honored by the Academy of Country Music concert special on April 4 in Las Vegas along with artists Carrie Underwood, Reba McEntire, Miranda Lambert and Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland.
