Lady Antebellum, Carrie Underwood Come Out on Top at First-Ever American Country Awards

The first-ever American Country Awards show aired live last night from Las Vegas. The newly-born awards show was given the motto, “boasting more music per minute than any other awards show,” by host Trace Adkins, and it couldn’t have been more true. The two-hour ceremony resembled more of a two-hour Country concert. Only half of the award categories were given out on-air, and acceptance speeches were only seconds long (after the winner performed, of course).

The American Country Awards are entirely fan-voted, which sets the show apart from other Country Music awards. The awards themselves were custom-made Fender guitars. Carrie Underwood and Lady Antebellum took home the most guitars of the night, with six and four, respectively. Underwood

"Thank God for giving these artists the biggest love for the best music in the world, Country Music," Underwood said. "We have had the most amazing year out on the road. For anyone who came out to see us, you guys are awesome ... God bless, thanks so much guys!"

The star-studded show also included performances by Blake Shelton ("Kiss My Country Ass"), Rascal Flatts (medley of "These Days," "Bless the Broken Road," "What Hurst the Most," "Fast Cars and Freedom," "Life Is a Highway"_, The Band Perry ("If I Die Young"), Toby Keith ("Bullets in the Gun"), Reba ("Turn On the Radio") and many more.
