Eighteen-time ACM award winner and best-selling artist of the 20th century Garth Brooks still gets excited when he hears his songs on the radio.

Brooks remembers struggling for a long time before eventually getting his first record deal. He said he’ll never forget the first time he heard his first single, “Much Too Young,” on the radio.

“I was driving in Nashville,” Brooks told The Boot. “When it was over, I switched over to the other radio station, because there were two there at the time. When I switched over, it was right in the middle of the song on that one as well. It was pretty cool!”

The Country legend says hearing his songs on the radio will never get old, .

“It's everything you think it's going to be,” said Brooks. “When we were doing nights, when you go play bars and stuff, the radio people that were there say, ‘OK, we're going to play it as soon as we get back to the station,’ and you tune in on the bus just to hear it. It's great. You can play the record all day but there's something special about when it comes on the radio!”

Brooks recently sold out nine shows in Nashville to benefit the victims of the floods that devastated the city in May. Shows are scheduled at the Bridgestone Arena for Dec. 16, 17, 19, 20, 21 and 22.
