Country Commands Attention of 53rd Annual Grammy Nominations

The 53rd Annual Grammy Award nominations were announced Wednesday night during the one-hour “Grammy Nominations Concert Live,” and several of Country Music's biggest names were on the list.
Still riding the huge success of their sophomore release, Need You Now, Lady Antebellum received the most nominations from The Recording Academy. With a staggering six nods overall, the trio was recognized in three all-genre categories, including Record, Album and Song of the Year.
Following closely behind Lady A with five nods is Miranda Lambert, who has owned the 2010 award season so far. Lambert, who performed her single “Only Prettier” during Wednesday’s show, is the most nominated artist in the Country categories. Lambert’s name also appears in the all-genre Song of the Year category for her mega-hit, “The House That Built Me.”
“This is kind of a cool thing for me, an introduction to this world,” Lambert said. “There's other great artists on the bill, and it's not just Country. It's across the board for music genres, and I'm just glad to be here representing Country Music.”
Zac Brown Band, Dierks Bentley and Jamey Johnson also appear more than once on the list of nominations, while Crazy Heart, the film starring Jeff Bridges as faded Country singer Bad Blake, earned two nominations for its music.
The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards airs Feb.13 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
