Gretchen Wilson Teams Up with Dollar General to Give Away $1 Million

Gretchen-Wilson
'Redneck Woman' Gretchen Wilson is teaming up with Dollar General to award unsuspecting customers and fans with prizes – the grand prize being $1 million.

This isn’t the first time Wilson is partnering with Dollar General, however. Recently, she worked with the Dollar General Literacy Foundation and the Ad Council to launch a PSA campaign providing high school dropouts with information to get their GED Diplomas. The Pocahontas, Ill., native is a high school drop out herself, leading this campaign to hold a spevial place in her heart.

"People need the right tools to succeed, and, at the very minimum, a major tool on the road to success is a high school diploma or GED," Wilson said. "This campaign will go a long way toward educating people on how to take that first step to make a difference in their lives and the lives of their families, and I'm honored to be a part of it." Wilson went on to obtain her high school degree, herself.

Winners of the Country Million sweepstakes will win Dollar General gift cards, Wilson’s CDs and cash, while the grand prize winner will not only receive $1 million, but a trip to Nashville as well. To enter the contest, which runs through Dec. 15, customers must be at least 21 years of age living in Dollar General’s 35-state market area. Upon the purchase of qualifying products, customers may go to www.dollargeneral.com or call (866) 541-0196 to enter the required information from receipts.

Currently, Wilson is promoting “I Got Your Country Right Here” and can be seen on the road, with her next dates being Oct. 16 in Duluth, Ga., and Oct. 24 in Whites Creek, Tenn. For more information on Gretchen Wilson, visit www.gretchenwilson.com.
