Country Promoter Indicted on Federal Charges

An Alabama businessman associated with some of Country’s biggest names has been indicted on federal charges. Ronnie Gilley, along with four Alabama state senators, has been accused of bribing state legislators in attempt to gain support for state organized gambling, according to CMT News.
 
Gilley is the owner of Ronnie Gilley Entertainment and Country Crossing Records, which produces the Verizon Wireless BamaJam Music and Arts Festival. He has worked with George Jones and started restaurants in collaboration with John Anderson, Darryl Worley and Lorrie Morgan.
 
U.S. Justice Department has charged Gilley, 45, with one count of conspiracy, six counts of federal program bribery, 11 counts of honest services mail and wire fraud and four counts of money laundering.
