Betts Much like Bucky Covington’s recent performance, which went on despite heavy rains, a little downpour couldn’t put a damper on Joe Nichols Aug. 22 performance at the Central State Fair in Rapid City, SD.  After Joe spotted several hundred fans waiting around in the rain hoping to see him in spite of the cancellation, he and his band made their way to the beer tent behind the grandstand, where they set up and performed their show for those who had braved the rain. “It was a little cozy in there with me, the band and a few hundred people all hanging out under the tent,” Joe says with a laugh. “But that’s what it’s all about for me - the music.  These people came to hear some good old country music, and by gosh, me and the band were going to deliver.” The day before the show (8/21), Joe delivered his new CD, Real Things, garnering some of the best reviews of his career.
