When Dave Haywood from Lady Antebellum found out he would be attending the 2010 CMA Awards, he knew who would make the perfect date: his mother. Unfortunately, Mrs. Haywood had already booked a mission trip out of the country and had to turn down her son's offer.

"The long story short was she already had a mission trip booked out of the country," Haywood told The Boot. "I had no idea. I was like, 'Dad, why didn't you tell me this?' He was kind of helping me find a funny way to ask her to go because she's literally obsessed with Twitter and Facebook now...After I asked her on Twitter, she called me crying. I was like, 'YES! I totally got her!' She said, 'No, I can't go!' I said, 'Mom, why can't you go? It's the CMAs! What in the world do you have to do?' She told me she booked this thing with the church out of the country like a month ago. At least she's doing a great thing. I don't want to take her away from that."
Instead, the CMA Awards night will be boys' night out for Haywood, who will be joined by his father for the evening.

"Dad's going to come up [to Nashville] and come with me," Haywood said. "I like having family at those things. It always makes for a special night regardless if you win or not. It doesn't matter. Being there, being nominated and having family there with me is always special. It's fun for them, too. They get a kick out of being there. I'm going to go with Dad this year. Maybe I'll get Mom back up there next year!"

Lady A is nominated in five categories at this year’s CMAs, including Album of the Year for Need You Now and Entertainer of the Year. The trio just released the fourth single off the album, titled "Hello World."
