The title track to Joey + Rory's sophomore release, appropriately titled Album Number Two, says it all. "The critics all are waiting to see what we will do...They say it's either sink or swim with album number two."
But it doesn't look like this husband and wife duo has very much sinking to worry about. Album Number Two debuted at No. 9 on Billboard's Country Albums chart, proving the ACM Top New Vocal Duo has a sophomore smash on their hands.
"A No. 9 debut for No. 2," said wife Joey. "What a great surprise! Rory and I are just proud to have the chance to put out a traditional Country album and have it do so well it's first week out."
And as it turns out, the critics the song mentions aren't disappointed either.
"The duo knows the power of sticking to its musical roots," said Jessica Williams of Country Weekly, which this month features an article about a topic Joey + Rory often explore in their own songs -- their love story.
The couple recently wrapped up a national arena tour with Zac Brown Band and will join Country Music legend Don Williams Sept. 30 on a month-long tour of theater shows.
