Blake Shelton Receives First CMA Male Vocalist Nomination

Blake-Shelton
It’s Blake Shelton’s first year as a CMA Awards solo nominee since his self-titled debut almost a decade ago. But he’s making up for lost time with four nominations this year, including Male Vocalist of the Year, his first nomination in that category.

“It’s been a long LONG ride!!!” Shelton posted on Twitter (@blakeshelton) Wednesday. “I’d like to say thanks to all you loyal fans out there!!!!!!”

The nominations mark a successful year for Shelton, the only solo male Country artist with two chart-toppers on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs in 2010 to date, “All About Tonight” and “Hillbilly Bone" (featuring Trace Adkins). “Hillbilly Bone” was nominated for Single of the Year, Musical Event of the Year and Music Video of the Year.

Shelton shares those three categories with his fiancée and fellow nominee, Miranda Lambert, who broke CMA records with nine nominations this year. But the couple isn’t letting the competition come between them.

"I'm so glad Blake finally got the recognition he deserves,” Lambert wrote Wednesday on Twitter (@miranda_lambert). “He is one of the best vocalists in the format! And he's hot!”

Tune in to ABC on Nov. 10 at 8 p.m. ETto watch the CMA Awards ceremony live.  For more information on Blake Shelton, visit www.blakeshelton.com.
