Kenny Chesney’s latest release on BNA Records, Hemmingway’s Whiskey, is set to hit shelves on Sept. 28. The album’s first single, “The Boys of Fall,” is already making waves on the Country charts as one of Chesney’s fastest-climbing singles.
 
The full-length, 8-minute video features some of football’s biggest stars, including Peyton Manning and Brett Favre. The video can be seen on VEVO, CMT and GAC. Chesney co-produced the video to showcase his love of football and its impact on his life.
 
“I learned how to work hard on the football field. I learned how to trust people on the football field. I learned humility on the football field. I learned teamwork on the football field. And all those things apply to what you do in your life. If you learn that early on, you have a chance to be really great at something -- the ability to be a great friend, a great father and a great husband," Chesney said.
 
The album also features some of Chesney’s signature island and relationship-themed songs. "Somewhere With You" is a song about getting over a relationship, which Chesney says "is really tough - there’s always something to remind you of a time, a place, a memory, a feeling." Meanwhile, "You and Tequila," written by Matraca Berg and Deana Carter, is a duet with big-voiced rocker Grace Potter ("I just fell in love with her voice," Chesney said). "Coastal" is a celebration of low-key vacationing.
 
The title-track, co-written by Guy Clark, Ray Stephenson and Joe Leathers, makes Chesney think of one of his favorite book, The Old Man and the Sea, and about the idea of sitting down with its adventurous author for a drink.
 
"I’d like to sit with [Ernest Hemingway] and talk about life, because he got through a lot in his life with some regret, but with a lot of grace too. And there’s a lesson in there for everybody," Chesney said.
