Tracy Byrd, along with his band and crew, are crossing the border (legally) next week to perform at the Festival Country Chihuahua in Chihuahua, Mexico on Wed. (8/22). A weekend radio show called The Nashville Connection was Chihuahua's first introduction to country music back in the mid-'90s, and the large city soon embraced the music that was exploding in Nashville. Years later, the founder of the radio show, Armando Velazquez, and Chihuahua's mayor, Juan Blanco, created Festival Country Chihauhau, which includes a marathon, parade, football games, an Old West re-enactment, children's rodeo, a week's worth of after-parties at La Barra Country Club, bull riding competitions from the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) and the concert by Tracy. Organizers of the festival are predicting a crowd of over 20,000 fans in the town known as the country music capital of Mexico. Says Tracy, "I've waited a long time to perform "Ten Rounds with Jose Cuervo" in Mexico. I imagine things to get pretty crazy by the time I get to "Ten Rounds..." in my show! Tracy also plans to sing the Spanish version of his Top 10 hit, "Just Let Me Be In Love."
