In an effort to honor his late son, star songwriter Jeffrey Steele will host the 4th annual Alex LeVasseur Memorial Skate and Music Festival on Sunday, June 27, in Franklin, Tenn. The festival, presented by Steele and family and The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, will support the Alex LeVasseur Memorial Fund of The Community Foundation as well as its scholarship program.

The free, family-friendly event will include live music by Jeffrey Steele, Nashville Academy of Rock, Pearl Heart and Frankie Ballard. Also included in the festival will be skate demos by Sixth Avenue Skate Team and Franklin Skate Shop Skate Team.

Alex LaVasseur died in 2007 in an ATV accident. In an effort to memorialize Alex and continue to share his passion for skating with other teenagers, his parents established a scholarship fund at The Community Foundation and held the first festival in June 2007 to help raise funds.

The scholarship, in partnership with Rocketown and the Sixth Avenue Skate Park in Nashville, helps to aide underprivileged youth by supporting programs that help them remain motivated in school through skating.

The festival will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. at Jim Warren Park (705 Boyd Mill Ave., Franklin, Tenn.) on Sunday, June 27.
