Randy Owen announced Saturday, June 13, that he completed treatment earlier in the year for prostate cancer. The longtime Alabama front man shared the news at his annual fan club party in Fort Payne, Ala. Owen told fans that he had received treatment for the disease after a routine test indicated abnormal levels of prostate specific antigen (PSA). According to CMT.com, Owen's doctors said he underwent a successful ultrasound procedure to treat the disease and his recovery is almost complete.
"Randy did everything right by having his PSA checked regularly ... and educating himself about his treatment options," Dr. Ronald Wheeler said. "He has set an example all men should follow to beat prostate cancer and live an excellent quality of life."
Owen will spend the summer managing his cattle business in Fort Payne before resuming his tour in September.
