Dierks Bentley is set to release his fifth studio album, a 12-track bluegrass-inspired CD, on June 8. The album, released on Columbia Nashville, is a departure from his previous releases.

“I set out to make an album that wasn’t defined by genre and did my best to break down what people’s preconceptions were about what ‘bluegrass’ music can sound like,” explained Bentley. “It’s so awesome to see the single hit the Top 30 and climb up the Country radio charts and to see fans get really excited about a fresh sound. I didn’t know what the reception would be...I just set out to make a great album. I couldn’t be prouder of the outcome...the whole process has been magical.”

Bentley penned five tracks for the album, working with some of the industry’s finest acoustic musicians. The album also features covers songs by Bob Dylan and U2. Alison Krauss, Kris Kristofferson, Sam Bush, Vince Gill, Miranda Lambert, Jamey Johnson and bluegrass legend Del McCoury also collaborated with Bentley on the record.

Starting this week, Bentley kicks of his promotional efforts for the release in New York City with an appearance and performance on Imus in the Morning. Bentley will also visit NBC’s Today and CBS Sunday Morning and will tape a segment for ABC’s CMA Music Fest: Country’s Night to Rock. Next week, Bentley will appear at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival.
