June 15 is a long-awaited day for many George Strait fans, as his rerelease of George Strait Live comes out on DVD to Walmart stores nationwide. Backed by his band, Ace in the Hole, Strait’s performance at the Dallas Reunion Arena on New Year’s Night 1986-1987 will be available on video for the first time.
The video includes performances of several of Strait's greatest hits and all time fan favorites. George Strait Live has been digitally re-mastered with 5.1 surround sound and includes five bonus music videos made available for the first time ever for fans on DVD.
Adding more to the mix, Strait has announced fall tour dates for his tour with Reba McEntire and LeAnn Womack. This second leg of tour dates begins Sept. 9 and will stop in 11 different cities, spanning into October.
With a career spanning more than 30 years, George Strait has the most No. 1 singles of any artist in history. He has sold more than 68.5 million records, and, with 33 different platinum or multi-platinum albums, has the most RIAA platinum certifications in Country Music and the third in all genres, behind The Beatles and Elvis Presley.
Strait’s latest CD, Twang, debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart and the Top Country Albums chart. This is the fourth time in his career that a new release has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and the 13th time debuting at No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart. His current single, “Gotta Get To You,” sits at No. 3 on the charts.
