Miranda Lambert Dishes About Dogs and Her Man

Miranda Lambert
Miranda Lambert’s 3rd Annual Cause for Paws took place on May 15, 2010. This benefit was held in order to raise money to benefit The Humane Society of East Texas.

The scene for the benefit was off Highway 110 in Tyler, Texas at Villa de Felicita. There are farms, homes and well kept gardens that surround the space. This also served as the background to the stage that hosted GAC’s Nan Kelly, Kacey Musgraves, The Whiskey Myers Band and headliner Miranda Lambert herself.

Miranda believes in The Humane Society and has a weakness for dogs. She made her first rescue in 2007 to her dog named Delilah. She also has Delta Dawn, a dog she found in a parking lot. Her most recent rescue was Cher, a dog she found in a dumpster in Oklahoma. But it is not just dogs for Miranda. She has two horses, six dogs, three cats, chickens and several cows. Animals are important to her, and she wants to make sure they are taken care of.

“This represents everything I stand for,” Miranda said. “The money we have raised in the past has helped the Humane Society of East Texas become a no-kill shelter. But there is still more to do and more abandoned animals to help.”

About 1,000 fans came to Villa de Felicita to benefit The Humane Society. Upon arrival, participants were given a gift bag with a commemorative wine glass and the chance to bid on a silent auction. The items available for participants to bid on were pet sitting packages, custom artwork, dining experiences and Miranda private label wine bottles recycled into cheese boards included with Red 55 wine.

There was a live auction later in the evening. Items up for bid were a Brooks & Dunn autographed guitar, an Archery Home Package, a personalized acoustic guitar autographed by Miranda and ZZ Top and a Roadside Bar & Pink Guitars Concert Package.

A Cocktail Party took place that evening, and the VIP tables were priced at $2,500 and Miranda accompanied these special guests at the reception. She posed for pictures and talked with the guests.

At last, it was time for Miranda. Once “Let the Revolution Begin” hit the speakers, the crowd went wild and out came Miranda. She opened with “Kerosene.” She then sang from her Revolution album “Only Prettier” followed by “Famous In A Small Town” among others.

Miranda had an unplanned collaboration with her father, Rick, on “You’re The Reason God Made Oklahoma.” This heartfelt song, along with sharing news of her recent engagement to Blake Shelton, made her admit that the song means something different to her now.

The fans were included in the concert by Miranda. When singing “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” she made sure to dedicate that to any ex-boyfriends who may be in the audience. She also performed “Love Letters” as a request for the fans who said they would donate if she sang it.

For all those fans expecting a new album from Miranda, expect it in late 2011. Right now, all she has on her mind is her Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour and her wedding. But no, there is no date set for the wedding yet (or honeymoon locations).

The engagement has become something Miranda has been able to keep private, but she does spill one secret. She was wearing a sweaty camouflage jacket when Blake proposed!

Miranda has a talent for singing and song writing and has the ability to share it with the world. At this charity, she came back to her hometown community and showed that she is still tied to her home.
