It was a telephone call Country megastar Brad Paisley never thought he would get: a call from President Barack Obama.

On Thursday, May 6, Paisley was a guest on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360 and reflected on the horrific flood in Nashville. During the interview, Paisley told Cooper that he received a call from the President earlier that day.

Paisley said Obama was “checking on his friends at the Grand Ole Opry” and expressed concern for the Nashville community. Paisley said Obama also assured him the Federal Emergency Management Agency was at work in Nashville.

On May 4, President Obama declared several counties in Tennessee a disaster area, including Davidson Country, where Nashville is located. To get help from FEMA, call 1-800-621-FEMA.

Many Country artists and networks are bringing attention to the flood victims. Tune in to GAC on Sunday, May 16, from 8-10 p.m. EST for a national telethon called Music City Keep on Playin’. The money will go to families affected by the flood and will be televised from the Ryman Auditorium.
